From the Chair
As Libertarians we dream of a time when there will be many more of us in elected offices. At the state convention we voted for not having bylaws reviewed every year. So instead of bylaws I am hoping that we will be working on getting Libertarians elected to local winnable offices. I am working with a San Diego rep and our Southern Area Coordinator to plan an event possibly in June to start the process for candidate recruitment and support. I would love for all of you interested in contributing to reach out.

In the News: The Epstein Files, the Streisand Effect, and You
You might have heard that there’s something going on in Iran. What’s going on? Who’s involved? Be honest: at this stage you have no idea, and wherever it is you get your news has no idea, either. Whatever is happening, missiles are involved, and it appears that some quantity of people, including a pack of political leaders, a bunch of schoolkids, and several U.S. servicemembers, have died. Whatever is happening, the parliament of craven eunuchs we call Congress is as useless as ever, refusing to exercise any constitutional authority over federal warmaking. So there’s violence in the Middle East, where there’s been violence for at least the last 50 years (or the last 500, or the last several thousand, depending on how you count). Any details beyond that remain fundamentally a mystery.
That may seem like a very cynical take. But why should you trust anything coming out of the federal government at this point? HOW can you trust anything coming out of the federal government?
You almost certainly wish you could trust something they say. But deep down, in the secret place you’d rather not face, you know you can’t. And you can’t because of the Epstein list.
Why is this such a problem? The list itself (and by “the list” at this stage we mean basically all of Epstein’s communications in the hands of the FBI and other law enforcement groups) is filled with half-proof, oddly coded innuendo, and strong suggestions about powerful people with degenerate sexual appetites. There’s no smoking gun in there. If there was, somebody would have leaked it.
But whatever’s in there, it’s JUST bad enough that the cockroaches that inhabit the halls of power don’t want the light to shine on it. They don’t want to have to explain anything. They don’t want to answer pointed questions from their constituents.
So they stall and stall and stall and stall, and redact and redact and redact and redact. And every time they do, every time another vote happens that somehow fails to just make all the data public, they erode their credibility just a little bit more.
And every time they do, we all want to see the list even more. It’s the Streisand Effect playing out once more. If there’s nothing to see, then show us so we know. The more you keep trying to shield it, the less we believe you when you say there’s nothing there.
Now the trust is basically gone. You know full well you can’t trust anything coming out of the federal government anymore. And if you can’t trust the federal government, can you trust your state government? Your county government? Your city council? How many of your local electeds have degenerate sexual appetites they’d like to indulge from behind a position of power? How many of them have been compromised by those appetites, and are even now sacrificing their integrity to preserve their public reputations? Be honest. You have no idea. But you can’t confidently say the number is zero, can you?
You should start paying closer attention to what your electeds closer to home are doing. You should start asking questions. You should follow the money.
If the Epstein saga teaches us nothing else, let it be this: any public official who tells you the public doesn’t get to see EVERYTHING is unfit for office. Don’t let your representatives hide anything. Ever.
More Suggested “Reading” This Month
(It’s not always reading; it’s the internet, you know how it is)
Want to make a few quick bucks? Riverside County is hiring Election Officers for the upcoming primary. This would be a great way to learn how the system works from the inside! https://voteinfo.net/county-riverside-registrar-voters-seeking-election-officers
“Norms” are eroding. There’s never been a better time to get to know your neighbors.
Michael Rechtenwald is very unhappy about Iran. If you must self-flagellate about it, join his Black Parade here:

Calendar Notes
As always, bookmark and regularly check our website for the most up-to-date event details: https://rclp.us
18 April 2026: RCLP Q2 central committee meeting
Save the date to come meet to talk liberty! Watch the website for location.
21-25 May 2026: LNC Convention
This is the national big one, this time in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Registration is open at https://www.lnc2026.com .
2 June 2026: Primary Day
The top two primary is stupid, but it’s the way the game is being played right now. Even if you hate all the candidates, at least vote against the tax and bond measures (because there’s almost certainly going to be one or more on your ballot, and they’re all bad since, you know, taxation is theft).
Voter Registration and Party Membership
If you vote, be sure your registration is Libertarian. Whether you vote or not, stay abreast of your registration details on the California Secretary of State page at this link: https://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/cavoter
Being a registered Libertarian voter certainly allows you to call yourself a real libertarian. However, there is more you can do. You can join the national Libertarian Party as a “sustaining member” by signing the membership application statement and paying dues to the national organization. Note that while paying dues at the state level (California) makes you a local “central committee member,” national membership is separate.
